Friday was the Pageant Grand Finale in which the winners of both categories were announced. The winner of Mr. PHPOLY is Dami Famakin (Shinoblarke) while the winner of Miss PHPOLY is Stella Uchechi. The Saturday award night was awesome as the DJ slams, the current Miss PhPoly was seen in the hall filled with happiness. The event started after the arrival of the invited guests that graced the event. The National anthem and the Aluta anthem were recited to kick off the event in which the movie shot by the school theater was shown for everyone to see. It was the first of its kind and the S.U.G congratulated and encouraged all members of PPTC (Port Poly Theater Club) to be more productive and focused. Awards were present to dignitaries such as the Rector of the institution, D.P.O of Police headquarters Rumuekpirikom, Dean of Student Affairs (DSA), respected H.O.D’s, etc. Trophies were presented to the various positions of the cultural celebration such as 3rd – Akwa Ibom, 2nd – Ikwerre, 1st – Kalabari. The School of Business and Administrative Studies won the best performing school. The winner of Mr. and Miss PHPOLY was present and also the Mr. and Miss Social were present at the event. After every necessary item on the list, the DSA took the closing remarks in which he commended the present SUG as the best the institution ever had. The guests all left as there was a heavy rain falling and based on logistics the DJ continued slamming for the students while some are dancing, eating or going home. Lectures have commenced since Monday and it going down real hard on students as lecturers hurries on their course outline.
It was a nice event today as it was one of its kinds in the institution’s history.
